Get ready to grill your dinner at new Japanese barbecue restaurant Kintan
Riyadh
August 9, 2023

You’re doing the cooking tonight at Kintan Riyadh.

The new restaurant is one of the first yakiniku – or Japanese barbecue spots in Riyadh, as well as Saudi. The name translates to ‘grilled meats’ and it’s where bite-sized pieces of meat (and veggies) are cooked by diners over a smokeless grill at your table.

The interactive concept is meant to bring people together. Kintan draws inspiration from the Japanese philosophy that states those who share rice from the same pot will have a lifelong friendship. Kintan is meant to be the meatier equivalent.

Established in 2013, Kintan has branches in Tokyo and London’s Oxford Circus. We can experience it for the first time in Saudi in the capital.

Kintan Riyadh is located in the new Box@ complex in Al Wadi, and it is currently open for dinner from 6pm to midnight Saturday to Wednesday and 6pm to 12.30am from Thursday to Sunday.

Reservations can be made via widget.servmeco.com.

Forget about American barbecue for a second. Kintan is focused on premium cuts including wagyu as well as signature short rib. You can also take your pick from chicken, prawns and a choice of marinade on all meats.

The eatery also has Japanese classic dishes from edamame to a signature crab salad and sushi rolls (the California is a popular pick.)

For dessert, bite into ooey-gooey chocolate s’mores cooked over the grill or a matcha tiramisu.
